What we collect

We collect only the information needed to run and improve the platform.

This currently includes account data such as email and authentication details, worker-submitted ratings and review inputs, and technical usage data such as page views and product interaction events.

We also store limited browser-side data, such as preferences and product state, when it is needed to make the app work smoothly.

What we do not collect

We do not publicly attach your identity to the ratings or review information you contribute.

We do not sell your personal data.

Our PostHog analytics configuration disables person profiles, so analytics events are not used to build named marketing-style identity profiles.

How we use data

We use collected data to operate the product, improve reliability and usability, understand how core features are used, and protect the platform from abuse.

We also use submitted data to generate workplace insights and aggregated signals for other users, while avoiding public disclosure of who submitted specific information.

Anonymity and contributions

Contributions on Tipped are not publicly linked to your identity.

Employers and other users cannot see who submitted a specific rating or review through the public product.

Where possible, we present information in aggregated form so individual contributors are harder to isolate from the published output.

Analytics and tracking

We currently use Vercel Analytics and PostHog to understand how the platform is used.

These tools may receive technical and behavioral data such as page views, navigation events, search actions, favorites, review submissions, and other product interactions.

PostHog is configured to avoid person profiles and to record page views manually through our router integration so we can measure usage without tying events to a named profile.

Session recording is enabled in PostHog, but it is configured with aggressive masking. All inputs are masked, password fields are masked, and text is masked by default unless we explicitly decide to unmask a safe UI element.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies or similar technologies through analytics providers, and we use browser storage such as local storage for app preferences and functional state.

That storage is used for things like preserving map position, theme preference, referral flow state, and similar product behavior that improves continuity for users.

You can control cookies and browser storage through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect parts of the product experience.

Service workers and technical operation

The app registers a service worker to support product delivery and updates. This is part of how the application is delivered in the browser and does not change the core privacy commitments described here.

Data processing and location

Tipped is operated from Europe, but some of the service providers we use for infrastructure and analytics may process technical data in other jurisdictions, including the United States.

We choose providers that are necessary to operate the platform and try to keep data handling proportionate to the product’s purpose.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.

If you have access to your account, you can start the deletion process through our public account deletion page at tipped.me/account/delete.

When we delete an account, we remove account-linked product data. Some content may remain only in anonymized form if it is no longer tied to your identity, and some billing or compliance records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, tax, or legal obligations.

If you believe we are handling your data incorrectly, contact us first so we can review the issue and respond directly.
